Interviews

We have and will to continue to interview various people who play major roles in our school, such as teachers, staff, students and parents. Our aim is to gather information on major issues in our school and its immediate surroundings through opinions, research, and personal knowledge.

SAMPLE QUESTIONS
  • WHAT IS YOUR TAKE ON SNYDER'S IMAGE?
  • WHAT ROLE DO THINK THE FOLLOWING HAS ON SNYDER'S IMAGE (RACISM, MEDIA COVERAGE, STUDENT TEACHER RELATIONSHIPS, ETC.)
  • WHAT WOULD YOU CHANGE? HOW?
  • WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT SNYDER?

ARCHIVAL RESEARCH

We've done archival research so that we can learn about where our school came from and the changes it has been through. Due to certain opinions, our image is a reflection of the past. With the long history of Snyder, we found it necessary to document the changes over time and see how it impacted our image.  Using library and internet sources, we looked through newspaper articles (from 1973-2006), yearbooks (since 1935), and statistics concerning our school from the State Department’s School Report Card (2003-2006).

Photovoice

nAnother method that we used is Photo Voice. I (Carolyn) went around the school and took pictures of things that stood out to me. These pictures are being used to explain different situations.

"Photovoice is an innovative participation action strategy that enables people to identify, record, and represent (through photographs) for themselves, other community members and policy makers-- their perspectives on important issues affecting their lives."
